Anne Orr’s charted designs for needlework appeared in magazines and books between 1914 and 1945. Her work is prized by collectors and needleworkers for its beauty and historical importance. This handsome selection of her designs will appeal to contemporary needleworkers as well.
The 119 full-color designs in this book are suitable for counted cross-stitch, crochet, knitting, needlepoint, rug-hooking, and other techniques. Included are corner designs for handkerchiefs, scarves, and napkins; designs for towel ends or scarves and borders of all kinds and sizes; an Italian runner for living or dining room; nursery accessories; an afternoon tea set; a dresser set; church medallions and ecclesiastical edgings.
Motifs include alphabets, sentimental sayings, silhouettes, sailing ships, soldiers, baskets, bouquets, birds (especially peacocks and parrots), and other animals.
